Mass. Film Director Selling Their New Film Incentive
Two Excellent Videos
Both of the videos are well worth watching. The first was a short film on runaway production posted on the California Legislature’s website. The second is an interview with director Micheal Bay, in which he discusses the difficulties of shooting in in Los Angles. I understand many people hate Bay’s films. Be that as it may, I think he did an excellent job on Transformers, which was a fantastic summer blockbuster and a cinematic spectacle. He also shot the film in the U.S.
I am wrapping up a section in my article on Massachusetts, which had some major drama before they passed their incentives. And the incentives were passed to late to prevent “The Departed” from departing to film in New York. Since “The Departed” is a “Boston” film, being set there and all, I think it’s criminal that it didn’t shoot in Boston. The film won best picture, best director etc. and it has become a treasure in the library of films. Such treasures are rare, so it’s nice for the art to celebrate them. But the film could have become something more, it could have become a treasure that belongs to Boston. But that’s just my opinion.
The video I post below is from the Massachusetts Film Office and is worth watching.
