There are a number of videos pooping up about runaway production and film incentives. Some are better than others. A drop down menu of your options will appear if you move your cursor over the Video Library tab, or you can see them posted below….

Kevin Klowden being interviewed by Ed Gutentag (April 2011):

Michael Moore on Michigan Film Incentive (November 20,2009):

Philadelphia Makes Pitch for Film Incentives:

I love this guy.  No BS–he simply says that Pennsylvania’s film incentives have been good for him.

California’s Video on Runaway Production And Pitch by Bay

Both of the videos are well worth watching. The first was a short film on runaway production posted on the California Legislature’s website. The second is an interview with director Micheal Bay, in which he discusses the difficulties of shooting in in Los Angles. I understand many people hate Bay’s films. Be that as it may, I think he did an excellent job on Transformers, which was a fantastic summer blockbuster and a cinematic spectacle. He also shot the film in the U.S.

The Legal Broadcasting Network posted a very good interview with Northeastern University Law Professor Peter Enrich about the state film incentives in late July. Enrich’s assessment, it seems to me, is right on the money. Enrich says the incentives are “out of control”, which they are. The interview also discusses the Constitutionality of the incentives, which is dubious at best.

Below is the promotional video produced by the Illinois Film Office:

In this video from early 2008, Director M. Night Shyamalan says the only reason he is able to film in Pennsylvania is because of the state’s film incentives…which is odd, because many of his earlier films are shot in the state when it did not offer the incentives…
