US-Canadian Production/Performance Comparisons:

Want to know how much Canada is spending on foreign productions in British Columbia?  The following data is from the most recent British Columbia film activity report:

This table is from the 2009 BC film statistics report and shows the number of foreign and domestic projects, the total budgets and the total of the budget actually spent in BC in 2009:

The following table, from the same 2009 BC report above, shows breakdowns of foreign and domestic projects each year from 2005-2009.  Of the 37 feature films shot in BC in 2009, 28 were from the US.  Of all the 84 total foreign projects, 74 were from the US:

Think the exchange rate drives runaway production? Think again.  This is from the 2010 Profile report.

This chart, from the 2009 BC stats report, shows that more productions does not always mean more spending and less productions does not always mean less spending….
